both rats have died in ways related to old age they were happy when they went.

Here's Cookie.

He's more obviously getting old :( His back legs are going limp. (normal for old rats.) He's also generally chiller.

And here's Cream.

He's the one who prances around more. He has a one-track mind, and the thing that's usually on that track is FOOD.

They're technically branarbi's rats, but I'm taking care of them while branarbi is at university.

Their habitat!

Good-sized cage for two rats (quite large) with a bedding-covered floor, multiple layers with ramps, a large wheel (rats need large wheels) that they don't use, a hammock, a water bottle, a food bowl and a weird bee hide that they sleep in.

This is their cage.

These are their boxes; I've been rearranging them every day since the room the rats are in is having some of its floorboards removed temporarily.

On the right side there is a desk and a bookcase making a corner space with 3 boxes stacked as a castle den in it and one beside it, on the right is a bed and a food tub with boxes stacked as a staircase on the tub (boxes also dens)

They have some jingly cat balls, which they love to push around.

Somehow, he took a selfie while I was adjusting the laptop and trying to take a picture of him. It's actually pretty good...

Cookie just leaped off the bed, landed normally on a box, then slid off it and landed on his back......??? He's fine, but it was TERRIFYING HOLY CRAP.
